Anthea Mouncher-Dunkley

Anthea Mouncher - Dunkley, SBA, SFP; scientific illustrator (botanical and geological); University illustrator / cartographer and muralist.

Born in East Cowes, Isle Of Wight, Anthea took a position at Southampton University where she became a Scientific Illustrator with the Department of Geology.

Anthea's passion for painting stems from her father, Edgar Thomas Mouncher, a virtuoso violinist who was also a committed collector of fine art. Following an illness, Edgar would often have long periods of rest and, during this time, would delicately restore fine art paintings while a young Anthea watched on.

Anthea is a retired Member of the Society of Botanical Artists, and also has the Cambridge Dictionary of International Biographies (Diploma). She exhibits with the Landscape Painters of the Isle of Wight. The Island is a varied and impressive source of inspiration for many of Anthea's works. Landscapes, seascapes and botanical studies in oil is Anthea's preferred medium
