Josh Hibberd

Josh is a local self-taught seascape artist based in Freshwater, Isle of Wight. Being a keen surfer and water-lover, it was only natural that the beautiful and ever changing coastlines of the island would become the inspiration for his artwork.

Being an 'outdoorsy' person, but also having a passion for art and design, Josh chose to combine these elements by studying Landscape Design and has run his own island garden business since graduating in 2013. Josh has painted since an early age, but found his love for creating art again during lock-down where he experimented through painting island shores on driftwood as a unique, natural canvas.

Josh is constantly inspired by the sea and his work focuses on aerial ocean views featuring waves and surfers. Using acrylic paint and free-flowing brush techniques - he combines deep dark blues to depict cold winter swells and captures summer scenes with tropical greens to reflect shallow warm waters.

In 2021, Josh was invited to exhibit his work at Brick Lane Gallery and in the same year had a full feature in Coast Magazine.
